The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2017

Hi everyone! There’s a lot of excitement and talk in the fashion arena these days over one of the biggest sales of the year. Yep, it’s that time…. Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale. The sale catalog is online and divided in categories for you to peruse now! For those of you that have never shopped the sale, I hope to give you some insight into the sale after shopping it the last 3 years. And for those of you that are veterans at shopping this sale, please feel free to comment and give me your tips and recommendations as we all share our love of fashion!

I have to admit that before I knew anything about this sale, I was not a regular Nordstrom shopper. There’s a misconception with some that this retailer is only for shopping high-end luxury brands that may not be practical or affordable for the everyday shopper. However, this is definitely untrue! For the brand loving fashionista, there are definitely the big name designers with all of their beautiful goods at this fashion mecca of a retailer. But, there are also Nordstrom brands (BP, Lush, Caslon, Halogen) and other common everyday brands (such as Nike and the North Face) that are loved by many to be found here too. Even the stay-at-home-mom who lives in leggings and a top knot can feel right at home shopping essentials for her everyday life and get a great deal.

With the Anniversary sale, all of these items are deeply discounted, sometimes up to 40%. And, unlike other sales that feature inventory that has been out for a while, these items on sale are BRAND NEW merchandise. It may seem odd to get excited about purchasing fall fashion while we are feeling the heat of summer, but the deals are too good to pass up. Early Access starts 7/13 and runs through 7/20 for those Nordstrom cardholders. The sale is open to the public 7/21-8/6. Prices go back up on sale items after 8/6. It’s also great to shop online with this sale because of free shipping and free returns.

I’ve poured over the women’s catalog of this sale and will share the items that have caught my eye. I will be sharing these and other items over the course of this sale here and on Instagram. My go-to’s for this sale are definitely shoes, bags, jackets, athletic wear, and jewelry. Some popular items sell out quickly, so if you are on the fence about an item I would go for it and decide later if you need to return. If something you love does sell out, keep you eye on it everyday as they do restock some things. In the past, I have found that the good stuff in the shoe department goes quickly and may not be restocked, but the popular clothing items were more likely to be restocked. I would definitely shop the sale online first for the convenience and best inventory. However, if you get a chance to get to a store, there are also great finds that are not featured in the sale catalog. Ok, here we go!

I tend to gravitate toward the lighter beige and taupe colors and many of these are available in those colors!

Some of these bags are a bit of an investment, but beautiful and have a classic feel while being stylish. Others are priced more affordably and are great for everyday. They would make great gifts too!

Here’s another photo of the Kendra Scott Rae and Nadri necklaces that I purchased; numbers 2 and 4 listed above. I love the everyday wearability of the Rae and the dainty look of the Nadri, which is two-toned gold and silver.

Athleticwear:
The Nordstrom brand Zella is a great line of athletic wear. Whether for athleisure or actual working out, they are quality products and so fashionable. I buy 1-2 pairs of Live-in-Leggings each year during this sale and really do live in them during the colder months. They last forever and the fabric is substantial and soft.

I absolutely loved the Don’t Sweat it Sweater and CeCe High Waist Open Knee Leggings when I tried them on in store and came home with those. You can see that photo on my Instagram feed.

I’ll stop here so as not to leave you dizzy with all of the great items! I’ll pick up on my next post with clothing and beauty items. Hope you have as much fun shopping this sale as I do! Thanks for stopping by.

Ok, here we go with Part 2 featuring cardigans, sweaters, tops, jackets, and dresses. I made it to the store and had about an hour to do a quick try on session. I would have tried on more items, but some things I liked were already sold out in my size and it’s only day 2 of Early Access!

Cardigans:
This category is probably one of the best in the whole sale. So many cute options in a variety of styles. They are pictured mostly in black, but come in other colors. I love cream and grey cardigans for their versatility through the seasons. Click on the image you are interested in to see all details.
From Left to Right, Top to Bottom:
1) Rib Knit Cardigan
2) Lightweight Rib Stitch Cardigan
3) Easy Circle Cardigan

Click on any image to see all colors and details.

Here is cardigan listed as #2 above. This is the cream color; also comes in black and a cognac shade. Super soft and comfy. I sized down one size.

Tees and Tanks:
There are some great tees and tanks that pair well with the cardigans above and can be used now and into fall. The deals on these are great too; perfect time to stock up on good basics. The trend is definitely an oversized fit and they are all comfy.
From Left to Right, Top to Bottom:
1) Bp Lace Trim Camisole Such a pretty lace detailing on the top edge.
2) Lush Raw Edge Side Slit Tee Great basic! Would love one in every color.
3) Bp Pocket Tee Great long sleeve basic! Would love the black and ivory stripe, but it sold out. Waiting for restock.
4) Lush Side Slit Tank Nice longer layering piece.
5) Caslon Rounded V-Neck Tee

Here are the items listed, from left to right and top to bottom.

In the picture above of me in that cardigan, I am wearing the tank listed as #4. This tank is also long enough to tie up in a cute little side knot.

Cute Tops:
Here’s some of the adorable tops that caught my eye. They can be worn now and then into fall layered with a jacket or cardigan. Bell sleeves, ruffles, lace, and knots are still big right now going into fall. I especially love the satin-y top with the bow ties and off the shoulder detailing (pictured in the widget below near the bottom in black; love it in blush pink), and the simple bell sleeve top (pictured in the widget below on the left side in a deeper purple; love it the dark pink shade).

Jackets:
This category is another one to shop early as possible. I didn’t look into the heavier winter coats, but the fall jackets are so cute. Definitely hard to pick a favorite. Great time to pick out a leather or suede jacket if you are in the market for one.
From Left to Right, Top to Bottom:
1) Blanc NYC Life Changer Moto Jacket Classic moto jacket look at great price!
2) Blanc NYC Metallic Faux Leather Moto Jacket Unique and fun for a night out!
3) Blanc NYC Suede Moto Jacket Obsessed with this in grey, but cognac great too!

6) Kut from the Kloth Tayanita Faux Suede jacket
7) Blank NYC Faux Leather Jacket
8) Madewell Catskills Jacket
9) The North Face Osito 2

Sweaters:
The sweater selection this year seems better and more diverse than in recent years. Soft fabrication and loose fits are everywhere. There are such pretty colors and textures, but they were already sold out when I was in store. Will be keeping an eye out for restocks!
From Left to Right, Top to Bottom:
1) Bp V-Neck Pullover
2) O’Neill Hillary Sweater Gorgeous grey color.
3) Bp Ruffle Cold Shoulder Pullover
4) Leith Bell Sleeve Sweater
5) Topshop Lattice Back Sweater

11) Halogen Lace Detail Col Shoulder Sweater So adorable.
12) Chelsea28 Bell Sleeve Sweater

Dresses:
I am not much of a dress girl, but in the process of looking at the above categories I ran into this adorable t-shirt dress with ruffles on the sleeves and pockets! I had to try it on and loves the look and feel of it. Looks cute with sandals or mules for now, and would be great with booties or sneakers into fall. I also spotted these cute rompers!
From Left to Right:
1) Socialite Ruffle Sleeve T-shirt Dress
2) Astr Satin Ruffle Hem Romper
3) Socialite Plunging Ruffle Hem Romper

Phew. I’ll pick up again later with any other try-ons that I get a chance to do. Also, will be posting on jeans and the great beauty exclusive deals. I will add my own photos as soon as my computer cooperates and lets me. :/

Back for Part 3 of the sale with jeans and beauty picks!

Jeans:
As, I write this I realize that my favorite pair is currently sold out, but I will be watching for a restock. They are the Articles of Society Mya denim and around $40.

Here’s a roundup on the best in sale (excluding higher end brands):
I purchased the plain black skinnies in this collection. They are super soft and stretchy; size down if you are in between sizes.

Beauty:
I love the deals to be had as part of the beauty exclusives. I don’t wear makeup daily or very much of it, but I like finding lip, eye, and cheek kits from brands that I am familiar with. At these price points, it is also a great time to try out a new brand they you have been thinking about. The kits are usually well curated to have the best of the brand and neutral colors.
I purchased the nude lip kit which includes two lipsticks and two glosses picture below. I have my eye on the cheek palette as well, which has so many pretty and usable looking colors from a high quality brand.

So there you have my picks in the various categories that I shop in this sale. I was thinking that this would be it, but I may add one more part featuring the best of the best at budget friendly price points once I do a little more research (aka shopping) and receive a couple more items that I have ordered.

I am still trying to get my computer to cooperate and let me add some pictures of me and the actual products, but that is still a work in progress. :/

Thanks for stopping by!
