As with my last post on Disney Cruise Travel Tips, I will continue to share more topics with you outside of my usual fashion posts. Today, I am sharing my simple skincare routine. I use the Honest Beauty Younger+Clearer line of products. This is not a sponsored post; I just truly believe in this line of skincare. It works for me better than any other than I have tried. I started using it around September of last year and true to its claim, my skin looks clearer and hopefully younger too!
A true bonus is that these products are made without the heavy, nasty chemicals and synthetics. I’ve tried other products that also are more ‘green’, but was always disappointed at their performance. And although I seek out natural alternatives to all types of products, I still won’t purchase or use them if they are ineffective.
My skin type is oily/combination. I would usually get a pimple or two once a month. Since using this line, I have NOT had any acne at all!!! One exception- the week we were out of town around the holidays, I did not pack my usual face stuff and low and behold I got a zit. As soon as we were back home and back into my routine, my skin is back to its clear self.
Here’s what I use:
1) The cleanser: I wash my face with it once in the morning and then in the evening. It’s gel consistency and you only need a tiny bit.
2) The moisturizer: I follow up my morning face wash with this. I don’t use it at night. You could if you are drier. It’s hyaluronic acid based, so it’s light and absorbs fast. If there is one thing I would change about this line, it would be to have this moisturizer available in a bigger bottle.
That’s it to my routine on a daily basis!!
These 2 simple steps from these 2 great products have been the answer to my oily skin/occasional breakout issues. I feel like I should be divulging a more elaborate routine, but that is truly it for me. I think that simple is better when it comes to skincare and at this point, I choose not to rock the boat.
Ideally, there would be a 3rd step… I would love to start using the Night Serum more regularly. I’m just so tired by the the time I’m ready to go to bed that it’s another step too long for me. But, when I did use it in the beginning I felt like it was helping to improve my skin’s texture. It has retinol (their ‘pure retinol’ formulation), but I didn’t find it as irritating as some others. So now thinking about all of that, I am motivated to add this step back in! A good serum really should be a part of your skincare routine.
In the beginning as with many acne treatment products, you may feel a little dry. Just make sure to use this light moisturizer and your skin will settle into the routine.
There are two other products in this line.
1) The toner: To be used after washing with the cleanser and before moisturizing. I’ve used this sporadically if there were days that I had a full face of makeup on, or on a few hot/humid/sweaty days. It’s nice and light and non-stinging.
2) The zit remedy: A spot treatment for pimples. I’ve honestly used this just ONCE, as I mentioned above for that ONE pimple that I’ve had in the 5 months that I’ve been using these products. And it did help shrink it without irritating or drying out the area.
Here are all of the products in the line. I started with the pack that came with a small cleanser, moisturizer, and serum. I just bought my second pack as that first one is about finished.
If your skin type is similar to mine, give this a try. Also, pay attention to how your skin responds. A little dry? More moisturizer, add a day or two in-between serum use. Not as clear as you hoped? Use the toner after every wash. And give it about a week to see some noticeable results!
