Hello friends! It’s been a while. Since the onset of winter break, I’ve been non-stop busy. Or sick. Or taking care of someone sick. And busy enjoying all of the holiday festivities as I hope you all have been too. It’s the end of 2017 and the new year is upon us. This is a time for reflection and goal setting for most of us, often in the area of health and fitness. There’s a energy in the air this time of year to get back on track with exercise routines. I’m definitely feeling this yearning too as I’ve fallen off my routine recently in the last few months. For me, it takes about two weeks of 3-4 times a week work-outs to feel good and keep the routine going. It then becomes a regular part of my day; a healthy habit and way of life. Everyone needs to find their own ‘feel good factor’ when it comes to exercise because even though the benefits are universal, the incentive and commitment is different for many people. If you are looking for a little extra motivation in terms of updating your work-out gear, I thought I’d share some of my tried and true favorites.
My favorite workout tank for the last couple of years is this tank. It gives the perfect coverage without being too snug or loose. The back allows for a cute sports bra to peek out. And the length is just enough to be leggings friendly. It is so affordably priced and comes in a ton of colors. There have been some modifications in this design that I haven’t tried yet, but look super cute. I’ll include my tank first and then these newer versions in the widget below.
My favorite leggings are these. I tried them out a few years ago from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and fell in love. Great fabric and fit and they work in the gym as well as in everyday outfits. Each year during the Anniversary Sale I pick up another pair. They come in all sorts of styles and lengths now. I have pretty much loved every pair I’ve tried on, except for the ones labeled ‘slim fit’ as these felt too constricting and slightly scratchy on me. Here are my faves from this brand:
I only wear one type of sport shorts, if it’s really too hot in the summer for leggings. These shorts are the best fitting and feel cool and light for any activity.
I’ve got a couple of favorite gym shoes that I buy whenever I see them on sale and will keep them in the closet until the current pair wears out. My favorite all around fitness shoe is this pair. Let me clarify and say that my workouts usually consist of uphill walking on the treadmill or elliptical training followed my weight machines. In the summer I may mix in some short distance trail running if my husband is looking for someone to run with (I hate running), and some tennis. Here are a couple of different styles of this shoe that carry me through all of these activities:
I also love this shoe for walking or just being out and about. They are so cushy and comfortable.
One more athleisure type shoe that I wear for walking or strength training with machines is this fun shoe. They are so light it almost feels like you’re not wearing any shoes! And they come in such cute colors! These look just as good with jeans as they do with workout clothes also. That’s a big plus for this denim loving girl.
Lastly, I’ll share some great pullovers/ gym cover-ups. I’ve had hoodies from this brand that are still worn may times a week over the last couple of years. Some of these are too cute to save for the gym and would make great everyday athleisure outfits. Be sure to check these out as some are currently on major markdown!
Here’s to us all getting back on track with fitness in 2018! Happy New Year!
